A Journey Through Time and Taste in Phuket’s Historic Baan Ar Jor Phuket
Red Table Restaurant at Ban Ar Jor is a must-visit for those who appreciate the flavors of southern cuisine. With its 2022/2023 Michelin Bib Gourmand guarantee, this restaurant is sure to impress even the most discerning palates.
Some of the standout dishes on our childhood memories menu we’ve ordered are the Spicy Phuket Pineapple Salad, Crispy deep-fried pork belly and bite-sized pieces of Deep Fried Tofu that are soft on the outside and devoid of excess oil on the inside. Additionally, the Stir Fried Launaea Sarmentosa with Oyster Sauce and Spicy Fish Curry are other unforgettable southern delicacies you should not be missed.
What makes the food at Red Table Restaurant truly special is the fact that the main ingredients are sourced from the Mai Khao area, helping to support local farmers and promote sustainable growth in the region.
The restaurant is housed in one of Phuket’s oldest Sino-Colonial style buildings, which was originally constructed in 1936 by Luang Anuphas Phuket, an ancestor of the Hongyok family. Today, it is run by the fourth generation of descendants who have lovingly restored and developed the property into a hotel, museum, restaurant, and foundation dedicated to helping underprivileged children in the Mai Khao area.
After your meal, take a moment to visit the Museum and the Ganesha statue which is believed to bring happiness and fulfillment to those who seek its blessings.
Reservations are highly recommended for those planning to dine at Red Table Restaurant especially on the weekend, so be sure to book your table in advance.
